As any bride knows, the costs of a planning wedding can quickly add up. Any chance to save money during the wedding planning process should be considered. When it comes to your wedding makeup, you can create a gorgeous look without having to spend a fortune. Here are a few tips and suggestions:
First off, finding the perfect cosmetics products can be pretty pricey. Many brides go out and buy a bunch of different products in hopes that one of them will work. They bring them all home and then test them each out to see how they look. Instead, I recommend making an appointment at a few different makeup counters for a consultation. These appointments are almost always complimentary and will give you a chance to get professional recommendations without having to first make a purchase. The makeup artists can try a variety of cosmetics on your skin to help you see how they look and feel. You’ll get to see the difference in shade, formula and brand before you spend any money.
Another helpful method to save money is by trying take home samples of the products you are considering. For instance, foundation makeup is one of the more expensive makeup products. Since you will have hundreds of photos taken, you need to choose a foundation that will last all day and will also photograph well. Ideal formulas to suit your needs include liquid foundation and mineral foundation formulas. In your efforts to try and find your exact shade match, consider trying out a few free mineral makeup samples or liquid foundation samples. You can find these types of samples online on most cosmetics brand websites, or you can get them directly from the makeup counter. If you get them at the counter, you will have to ask for a take home sample since they keep the take home samples behind the counter.
This strategy works really well for lip shade as well, since most of us really don’t want to apply one of the germ infested lip makeup testers at the makeup counter to our lips. The makeup counter testers can be easily applied to the back of your hand if take home samples aren’t available, but ideally, lipsticks, glosses and other lip products will look much different on your actual lips than on the back of your hand. With free lip gloss samples especially, you will want a sanitary individual sample to take home since glosses are more sheer than lipsticks and will look much different if not applied to your lips.
Whether you try on your makeup options at the counter, at a friends house, or at home, you may want to bring a camera along to see how the products each look in a photo. Some products look great in person, but not in pictures. Others look beautiful in a photo, but too heavy in real life. Others will give you the best of both worlds. Don’t wait until after you’ve made a purchase to make sure your product will meet your expectations in both areas.
Remember, a little planning ahead of time can help you find top notch cosmetics products to give you a stunning wedding day makeup look without costing a fortune.
